A childless old couple love their kitten so much, they decide to have him educated.
They pay their vicar to educate Thomas.
The Vicar is a cruel man. He takes their money but kills their kitten.
Year after year, he makes them work to pay Thomas' 'school-fees.'
When he leaves for London, the vicar plays one last cruel trick. He tells the old couple that their Thomas ran away to sea -- but they will find 'Captain Thomas Katt' at the Miching Mouse Inn.
The Vicar laughs to himself as he thinks of the old pair travelling to London to find a man and an inn that don't exist.
But the old pair have the most strange good luck...
